CARRY - Macbook or Laptop Decal Deals

This review is from: CARRY - Macbook or Laptop Decal (Personal Computers)
This decal works great. It seems like it wouldnt be that hard to get off if i wanted to get it off but it stays on well. It also came with two other decals so that you could practice. I didnt practice with them and got it on perfectly and then gave the extras to friends who really liked them

I just bought this sticker and "LEAN" another one from the same seller, and I am most impressed with everything.

When my package came, I got the two stickers that I ordered plus two other stickman stickers that I could also use. SWEET!

The package came really quick, and I was impressed with that. Also inside, there was a customer satisfaction card that made the seller even more appealing to me.

I definitely recommend this because it looks really great on the computer, and they are really nice quality.

5 STARS!

I ordered this product for my Macbook. Since I'm a college student, my computer goes everywhere with me. I wanted a case that was durable and cute. I also like to eat near my computer so I really wanted a keyboard cover as well. When this product arrived I was thrilled by what I received! I did have ONE slight issue. The keyboard cover did not lay flat on the keys. I emailed the company and within 24 hours they responded and sent me a new keyboard cover which arrived in less then 2 days! They have great costumer service! I am thrilled with this product! The case is really well made and looks adorable too! Totally buy this!

This is my second case for my macbook because my first case started to crack, although I never dropped it. Anyway, I was a bit concerned because this did not have any reviews, but I am so glad I bought it anyway. I ordered it on Monday night, and got it today (Wednesday). Super fast shipping. The case is a really pretty light purple, and the keyboard cover is a plus. Keys align pretty well, not 100% but close enough.

Only thing I would be careful is the shipping. This came in a regular flimsily USPS envelope with no padding whatsoever. I was worried it might have been already damaged but I was lucky. Otherwise, awesome case!

The product is exactly what I was hoping for and it was shipped promptly. I have never received an online order so quickly!
The cover and the keyboard cover fit perfectly and seem to be durable products!
I highly recommend this product! The pricing is also a plus in comparison to the price of sale of about $50 at an Apple retail store.

This stands holds my 15" laptop securely off the desktop for efficient cooling. Collapses down very easily for travel. At a few $$ less than another brand sold on Amazon, this item seems to be built exactly the same, and will hopefully perform as well over time.

This is a wonderful little gadget. It folds up to a compact size for easy storage and travel, and it really helps when typing on my 11.6" laptop(on a flat surface). I hate the feel of typing on a flat laptop keyboard, which is basically all of them unless they're on a device like this. I highly recommend this item, as it is so simple to take with you due to the folding design and the light weight, and it makes the "laptop" experience so much better. Although it may not look like the slight difference in the typing angle would be all that significant, I personally find it to be much much easier on my hands and much less tiresome overall. By the way, there are at least 2 items on Amazon (right now anyway) that look identical. One is slightly cheaper; that's the one I bought and am reviewing. I believe the two items are one and the same.

This review is from: GMYLE(R) 2 in 1 - Pink Frosted Matte Rubber Coated Rubberized See Thru Hard Snap On Case for Apple 13.3" inch Macbook Pro - With Silicone Pink Protective Keyboard Skin Cover (Personal Computers)
I noticed a lot of 1 star reviews on this product - so I wanted to chime in with my 4 star point of view

My new mac book is very happy to be in this perfectly pink hard - shell! I don't worry about scratches or getting stuff on it - the color is definitely pink - and the keyboard cover (which I wasn't intending to use when I bought it) fit so well and looks good that I never take it off.

Maybe the use of the word 'rubberized' in the product description is a little off -- but if you actually read the specs on what you're buying - you should know what you're getting!

I wouldn't say you're safe to drop your mac book - even with the case on - but for preventing normal wear and tear - this is good protection for a great price!

This is NOT that bad.
When I ordered the product, I didn't read the reviews until after I had placed my order and being that they were primarily negative, I was naturally scared.

However, this case isn't that bad. It came in two pieces like it should have, not eight like other customers had expressed and the keyboard cover was included, unlike most others. I noticed that most of these were written about a year ago, so maybe the company had read these and changed a bit.
The case is the color advertised, a salmon, calm, light pink and you can see the apple logo through. It does slip off a little, but not too badly where it falls off every time you pick it up. It IS rubberized. It is not very rubberized, but it's enough for the company to advertise it.

My keyboard cover is okay. It takes getting used to for typing and stuff, but apple keyboards wear quickly so its a nice investment. The keys don't line up exactly with the lights and stuff but everyone knows a qwerty keyboard so its not too big of a deal.

overall, this isn't as bad of a buy as the reviews make it out to be. Cut the company some slack, this isn't SPECK.

I love this case it feels soft and light snaps right on. It doesn't have a cheap plastic feel. The keyboard protector is great as well fits right on top of the keys . Only things is the color is not exact. It is a little more towards the hott pink side. Still really cute and I got it for a great price. It feels more expensive than it is. I really like this case.

I just got mine in today!! I'm trying to get accustomed to typing with the keyboard protector on, so I thought i'd writ a review about how awesome this product is! :)

The case snapped on perfectly, it's a perfect fit and the perfect color. The pink is a little bit brighter- more hot-pink than baby pink, so that may throw some customers off, but for me, the more pink the better :D

The keyboard protector went right on. One of the main reasons I ordered this was because it came with both. I've been looking for a keyboard protector for months, because my keys are starting to get all scratched up from my nails. So I thought a protector would keep the letters from coming off completely! So far, so good!

So if you want this product order it! don't hesitate! :D

I purchased these based on others' reviews. They're right, the color wasn't exactly the same, but I still like it, also got compliments from my friends. If you're into pink, don't hesitate to buy it. And I was surprised 'cause it arrived earlier than expected, thumbs up for that! No regrets buying these and will order again from the seller.

Apple MacBook Air MD760LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop Deals

By Allison Leonard "AlleyBright" (Seattle, WA) -
This review is from: Apple MacBook Air MD711LL/A 11.6-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) (Personal Computers)
I purchased this computer from a mac store near my house. I bought a thin shell for it and a thick outer case. I also purchased keyboard and screen protector - so i'm never actually touching the machine when in use. I take very good care of my notebook. I sometimes pick up this notebook to move it - in example I sometimes use it before bed and set it on my bedside dresser before going to sleep. One morning - I woke up and started my computer to find that the screen had cracked in the location I had (gently) picked it up to move it. I am incredibility disappointed with the fragility of this product because when I went to the mac store to have it repair they said it would cost $656.00 for parts and labor. Additionally they charged me $59.00 for diagnostic fees and found that the damage was the result of "negligent use."

This is the most expensive computer of this size/technical features on the market... it is also the most fragile... it is also the most costly to repair/replace. My machine broke 15months after purchasing it new in store. The cost to repair it was double what I paid for the computer that I got to replace it. I want to support this company because I love their products/designs but there are more and more products on the market that are just as good, more durable, and far less expensive. My experience with this computer inspired me to no longer bring my business to Mac.

A nice and lightweight laptop for checking email on the couch, but unfortunately not much more than that.

My biggest gripe with this is that there's two USB ports, but they both go to the same internal USB host controller. This means you can probably ever only hook up a single high-bandwidth device at any one time - as you're really getting one usb port with a hub instead of two ports.

It's extremely disappointing and deceptive that they would do this, as almost any laptop I've seen with two USB ports has two USB host controllers. Also it seems no one at the apple store knows the details of these systems, and they don't have specs for these in-store.

The air book is a light weight fast and efficient computer. It is very expensive and has not drastically changed in the past few years. However, all our other home computers are Apple. Thus, in looking for a new one we felt this was the way to go. Our initial reason for buying an Apple over a PC was the dreadful experiences we had with on line support for our PCs as opposed to the pleasant service we got dealing with a damaged iPod that belonged to our daughter. The prices are the same on line or at the Apple store so we chose to purchase at the Apple store. We have heard friends in the past few years complain that the Apple service had gone downhill, but had not experienced it. Thus, for these reasons we decided to purchase the product. This product Was supposed to come with a gift card, which the cashier was supposed to activate. The only way that we found this out was when we went online to use it. After speaking with both online support and the store, there was no dispute that the card was supposed to be activated. Apple's high-tech solution: take the time from your day to travel to the store to have them do what they should have done in the first place. This is hardly the old type of apple service. Rather, it reflects a company that continues to live on its past reputation. Thus, when considering a lightweight computer in the future, I'm going to consider products from Samsung and others that are trying to accomplish what apple is squandering. I would suggest others do so also.

This review is from: Apple MacBook Pro ME664LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop with Retina Display (OLD VERSION) (Personal Computers)
I am a first time Apple buyer and I love this machine. It was fast to set up, intuitive features and layout. The Retina Display is crisp and easy to use, the keyboard has a great feel to it, the construction is great, and the machine it self if very responsive. The battery life is actually a little more than 7 hours with the SSD hard drive I average about 7.5 to 8 hours on a normal day.

The only thing to be careful of it the display there are two manufactures for the display, LG and Samsung. The LG display has an image retention problem, while the Samsung display does not. But there is no way to guarantee which machine you are going to get. But Apple will replace the machine if you do get an image retention problem.

Purchased through Apple directly to get the corporate discount, since my state charges tax on Amazon purchases anyway. I've had a number of Apple laptops over the years, and (not surprisingly) this one is the best. It is slim, speedy and well constructed. No image retention problems that I've seen. Resolutions at 1440x900, 1680X1050 and 1920X1080 all look fantastic, allowing you to choose between more display space (with a little interface lag) and a standard amount of display space (with no lag). Text is crisp at all resolutions. I noticed at first that the fans were spinning up with some regularity, but since a recent firmware update I haven't noticed them once. To be honest, I just haven't seen the variety of problems mentioned in another review.

I can absolutely recommend this machine to anyone who wants or needs a prosumer level laptop. For home use, a Macbook Air is probably a better bet...its lighter and substantially less expensive. Just don't look at the retina MBP's display, because you WILL want it!

I replace my MacBooks roughly every three years and it has been apparent for a few months now that it needed to be done. This was a big upgrade from my last Mac with a bigger screen and hugely improved functionality.

I spend quite a lot of time on my laptop each day doing various tasks which include reading articles, books and blogs as well as photo editing for my shop and watching movies. I do play a bit of one video game as well. This laptop is amazing. The reduced eyestrain was evident after only a few hours. I find myself wanting to use the laptop over my mini ipad (but once the retina screen is available on that I will get it!).

The detail in watching a very vivid TV show such as Defiance is brilliant. You can see so much more of the background action and it actually made me pause several times to marvel at the surroundings to the plot.

Reading books on this screen is easy and reading articles an being able to click links back and forth without eye strain from changing visuals is fabulous.

The one game that I do play, World of Warcraft, runs smoothly and there is quite a bit more detail in the background. I actually think I might have to turn the graphics down a bit because there seems almost to be too much information for my brain to handle.

The various programs I use are running very smoothly and it was a matter of an hour or so to finalize the update process once I received the laptop and get everything running.

I was a bit surprised to find no DVD drive (didn't actually even think to check this when I purchased) but honestly I watch a DVD movie only rarely and it will be easy enough to purchase a separate drive. The world seems to be moving towards digital download anyway so I'll probably replace most of my DVD collection in time.

Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase and only wish I had done it sooner.

I purchased the newest version (Early 2013) which had the upgrade to 16GB Ram and 512GB SSD.

The notebook is extremely fast. Computer seems solid, boots in 10-15 seconds from off, sleep to ready in 4-5 seconds. It opens programs in no time flat. It is not light as an air book, but still defiantly lighter than previous models. The screen is great, bright, and responsive. With heavy use I get about 5-5 1/2 hours of use on the battery.

Some peoples complaints are the new power adapter, I will agree with them, the new adapter sticks out further and gets knocked off a lot. Not having a dvd drive, not a big deal...I dont think i've used a dvd or cd in a computer in a few years! If I need to I will just have to purchase the external.

I've never owned my own laptop (sure, I've been provided company laptops before but never actually had my own), and I'd just spent a lot of money on house repairs and I felt like I needed to get myself a little something. OK, a BIG something, but I'll be damned if it wasn't worth it. This is a marvelous device. Literally within two minutes of setting it up, I got an iMessage on the laptop which contained a video of my nephew which I clicked on and it started playing. I had to check around for cameras because I felt like I was in an Apple commercial. It just works. I really have nothing else I can say about it other than if you're in the market for a laptop and you can afford it, you might as well splurge. You won't be disappointed.

There was one little annoyance, though, which I thought was a problem at first but now that I know it's normal I guess I'm OK with it, and that is when the laptop wakes up from hibernation, sometimes it takes several seconds until it will let you enter your password and start using it. For that time period it looks as if it's just locked up. After some research it turns out this is because it saves everything in memory to the hard drive and the transfer of that information back to memory when waking up can take several seconds depending on what all it has to transfer. So, no big deal, I guess.

This is a fantastic laptop -- very similar to MBA in feel but much more powerful. However, if you are a Windows 7 user via bootcamp like me, this Retina Display version may not be the best choice (ie you may want to choose the regular MacBook Pro instead). The maximum resolution of 2880 x 1800 will make everything in Windows 7 look tiny. You can try to blow the DPI resolution from 100% to 150% or even 200%, but if you do, things will not look perfect -- ie certain things will look too big, certain things too small (relatively), certain pop-up windows have cut-off images, certain programs have cut-off menus, certain browser pages will have messed-up paragraphs etc. You can try the browser view enlargement but it still is a hassle and imperfect. The best way to fix this is reducing the display resolution to 1440 x 900 (ie making the pixel count a uniform half of the maximum). Now everything will look perfectly aligned in perfect proportions but now you are defeating the whole purpose of having bought the gorgeous 2880 x 1800 Retina Display (and paid 3 times normal laptop for that). If you reduce the resolution anywhere from the maximum of 2880 x 1800, you will see the screen dull, fuzzy and smeared -- much more so than laptops with originally lower maximum resolutions.

As for Windows 8, I have not tried and I do not know. I would appreciate if someone who did let me know if it would work at 2880 x 1800 without the need to blow up the DPI resolution. If so, I will switch to Windows 8.

This is something you will not see in the beautiful world of "demos" displayed in your local Apple stores since they will only have Mac OSX on these computers. But many people use these machines for Windows as well in the real world, and in so doing the "wow" factor will be severely undermined. I just wanted to warn you, since I am already regretting my decision. Plus the regular MacBook Pro is easily expandable and upgradable; this is much harder since everything has been soldered into the motherboard including the ram and the SSD. I am now using this machine at 1440 x 900, hardly a Retina resolution. Dear Apple, if you see this, please save us the Window 7 users by giving us an update patch.

Having said all this, since the original purpose (presumably) of this machine is for OSX, I am giving it five stars.

It was time to replace my 8 year old laptop and I decided to get a "fancy" Mac Book Pro. You get what you pay for, right? WRONG! If you like your Windows 7, Vista or even XP, just stick with it. Any of those are way simpler to use than Apple's Mountain Lion operating system. Mac is complicated and frustrating at moments. I watched tutorials and that helped somewhat but not enough. I'm a small business owner and a productivity aspect is very important to me. Windows operating system is a superior product by far. It's actually very obvious. Just look at a market share between the two concepts. I should have known better. I hope you don't make the same mistake...

Have been an Apple aficionado. Until now. With an iphone, Ipad, Macbook pro and Apple router. I bought a Macbook Pro in July 2010 and bought an extended warranty for 3 years. Recently in July 2013 I had some power problems and I took it to the Apple store on August 8th, 2013. It was found that the battery needs replacement but Apple refused to replace it because the extended warranty was over by a few days!
Two things that mark the new Apple as plebeian and cheap as some other manufacturers - 1. The battery misbehaved exactly after the warranty expired, precise to the day! 2. Apple which earlier would have replaced the battery knowing very well that they sold me a 3 yr warranty that was not misutilized - would have replaced the battery. But they did not.

Why pay a premium for Apple service? Furthermore, why buy Apple extended warranty?

I chose not to replace my battery. My next machine will be .. not APPLE.

I am disgusted at apple after being ripped off by this macbook pro.

Soon after receiving this trash I found out I could have gotten a vastly superior ASUS laptop for less than this. A friend of mine said yeah MAC are great they are better than any PC etc. Wait till you see how fast OSX is etc.

Then I realize without a SSD this garbage is slow, only has 4GB of ram, doesn't even come with a SSD and the screen resolution sucks.

Wish I had gone with a ASUS computer I would have gotten double the RAM, super fast SSD and better overall design. This crap gets way to hot you can't even put it on your lap.

My uncle brought this for me from the US as a gift, and now I am forced to find some retard to pawn this off.

Are there people in this world really dumb enough to buy this? The only thing I found nice was the Icons are pretty and I like the theme of OSX. Screen has nice viewing angles and I like the aluminum body except for the fact it gets to hot.

But over all I am very disappointed with this nonsense that costs $1700 USD. I taught this would be sooo amazing would have like 16GB of ram and 500GB SSD etc.

I upgraded from an MC375LL/A mid-2010 13" MacBook Pro to a MC224LL/A mid-2012 11.6" MacBook Air, and the difference is like night and day. My new MBA takes 5 - 7 seconds from pressing the power button to login screen versus about two minutes with my old MBP. The main hardware differences are: Core i5 vs. Core 2 Duo, 1600MHz vs 1067MHz RAM memory, and (very important) SSD vs. mechanical HDD secondary storage. My new MBA doesn't even feel warm when playing Civilization V whereas my old MBP became very hot within minutes, and the graphics performance is at least twice as fast. As for the ergonomics, the keyboard really is full size, and the display is not noticeably smaller than the 13" MBP, yet the 11.6" display has more pixels. Most importantly to me, my MBA weighs less than half of my old MBP. I really am very happy with this 11.6" MacBook Air.

There is no "absolute" scale of greatness. In the human condition, you either get great price, or you get great gear, but both? As rare as a unicorn.

That having been said, the current iDevices and Air Books represent great value. Apple has completely transformed itself from a company that offered high design, mediocre performance, and high prices to a company that also includes high performance - and market-leading designs, not just "pretty" designs. They charge a premium price - but they also offer premium gear with a premium experience, and the ratio of "premium experience" to "premium cost" keeps getting better for us, the consumer. Look how they revolutionized the phone industry with the iPhone - before the iPhone, none of us dreamed how "smart" a "smartphone" could be.

Now, look at the Windows Ultrabooks - bald-faced MacBook Air "clones." They came out priced HIGHER than Apple Air Books for comparable specs, while still offering sub-par experiences (touchpad problems anybody? not on Airs; how about viewing angles on screens and the video quality experience? Apple 10, opposition 1). Now that prices have dropped, they still have dismal market share, and advance press on Microsoft's new "Metro" user interface for Windows 8 (coming soon) has been very negative.

Kudos to Tim Cook for the many, many years of hard work he spent turning Apple's "supply side contracting" into the power house it is today. Apple has such a lock up on future production, that what's left over for other manufacturers is priced relatively high. And margins are SO thin in the hardware world of Windows (caught between Intel's aggressive chip pricing and Microsoft's Windows licensing fees, actual hardware manufacturers are picking at bones) that the manufacturers have very limited design teams, nothing to compare to Apple, which is a design MACHINE as we all know. For that matter, Windows used to roll out the latest chips from Intel. Now its Apple.

In short, unless you absolutely, positively have to run Windows, or are still running Windows XP (you know the millions and millions of you out there!) and dread the learning curve in switching to Windows 7 (grateful that you skipped Vista altogether!), or need to buy a new netbook every few months to see if the _finally_ deliver on their early promise, just bite the bullet and buy a Mac.

And particularly if you are using this for real world stuff - hauling it to your favorite coffee shop or wifi hotspot. Using it on your lap at home.

My 11.6" MacBook Air fits in a SLIP case that looks like it was designed for an iPad! Slipped into my daypack, it feels like it isn't there! When I use it, the keyboard is FULL SIZED. If it's dark, no problem, no headlamp required to see the keyboard - it's backlighted. Wait, I don't have a lapdesk. No problem - no air vents on the bottom that I will block by placing it on my lap, and it doesn't run hot (what a concept - a laptop you can actually place ON YOUR LAP).

Here are the pluses and minuses:

+ Large enough screen for basic HD video (720p, but not 1080p; it can output 1080p to your external screen, but it can't display it all in a single glance on the smaller built in screen).

+ Large enough screen so that websites display properly when your browser is "max size" (you can even easily "full screen" it). (I recommend setting your "dock" or "app bar" to hide itself until you bump the cursor on that edge of the screen - that way you get the most of your limited screen real estate.)

+ MagSafe Connector for safety - MagSafe breaks free before dragging laptop off table.
- New design of MagSafe has problems reported by Pogue - sometimes disconnects itself during normal laptop shifting. Mine seems very tight, so tight I worry that given the light weigh of the Air and the slick feet on its bottom surface, it will get dragged of the table if someone's foot catches my power cord.

+ Slick feet on the bottom of the case let the unit slide smoothly into the snug slip case I got from Rickshaw Bags.
- Slick feet on the bottom of the case let the unit slide around on my desk, at the coffee shop on their table, at the library etc. Won't even stay put on a rubber surfaced lapdesk.

+ Ultra light bottom (keyboard) section. (The screen is light too, of course.)
- The case bottom is so light, that Apple limited the "recline angle" of the screen so it wouldn't tip the whole laptop backwards - this is a non-issue for normal height people at a desk, but if you set the laptop down on a kitchen counter you will probably want to recline the screen back further than you can, for a good review. Still very usable, but a minor niggle.

+ That solid aluminum, satin polished, machined case still impresses. One or two Ultrabooks try to duplicate it, but most throw in some plastic as well.
- That solid, satin polished case is something we all want to keep pristine, so a huge market in covers has emerged. Covers are terrible, though, they maee the Air fat, unwieldly, keep heat in, and get scratched themselves anyway. Net result: Apple will give us all OCD, or teach us to love wear marks!
- The Air case is slippery! Watch your grip! If you pick a slip case (like the looser fitting Tom Bihn) up and accidentally aim the opening down, your Air will eagerly slide out! Some have even complained about how slippery it is in the hands!

+ It now has a USB 3.0, which means an inexpensive Apple compatible USB 3.0 hard drive from Seagate, or a reformatted (not hard to do!) 3.0 hard drive from Western Digital, will produce desktop speeds when you use an external hard drive. Note that the internal SSD in the Air is EVEN FASTER, but who besides Apple runs much SSD in their units? USB 3.0 is about as good as an internal hard drive in most other makers laptops.
+ You can buy an accessory stand that turns the Air into a "docking" laptop, and if you have one of those USB 3.0 external hard drives, performance will be comparable to a Mac Mini.
- No native HDMI port or even Apple-made adapter. BUT a third party adapter is available.
+ HDMI carries sound now too, which makes the Air a potential "home theater" device.

- Type on the screen is small on an 11.6" screen.
+ You DO know that Command + and Command - are like pinch zoom and shrink and will size the text temporarily to make it easier to read?
- Yes but I like touch gestures better and wish the Air had a touch screen!
+ Yes but using the keys keeps fingerprints off the screen. Besides you have an iPad already, right? And you know iPad users are buying external keyboards in droves, right?
+ And if you don't know about it yet, Safari, Apple's default web browser (but I use Google Chrome), has an e-reader function that converts web-laid out text to a nice single column of readable text.

- Flash seems to crash both Safari and Google Chrome more frequently than in Windows.
+ The world is moving away from Flash. And blame Adobe and it's Flash complexity-nightmare, not Apple.
- Google Chrome doesn't seem as stable in Apple as in Windows. Esp. when Mountain Lion came out, Chrome got glitchy.
+ Google releases more updates to its browser than Apple releases updates to its OS X. Besides isn't Chrome still in Beta? (No, there IS a beta distribution line, but Chrome has been "stable" for a long time now).

- OS X isn't Linux.
+ No, it isn't, but it is tightly based on BSD that "other" free Unix distribution, which many uber geeks think is better. But I won't touch THAT topic.
- You can't run Linux on a Mac.
+ Actually you can, but probably not as easily as on Windows hardware. But isn't the "challenge" of installing and running Linux part of the "fun"?d Besides, see "+" above, OS X is based on BSD, but with a REAL WORKING BEAUTIFUL desktop instead of Elf (Gnome?) whose current incarnation has been cursed by the very orginator of Linux, Linus Torvaldis himself.

So in short, allowing for a slight unnecessary excursion into computer humor, the current MacBook Air is an absolutely incredible machine whose design and technology make it worth every farthing paid for it. And unlike products like the Google Nexus 7 tablet (I jut got one! and I do like it very much) if you have a customer service issue or even a Dumb Question you don't have to run an incredible Google search to find an incredibly small amount of help. You just make an online "Genius Bar" appointment at your nearest Apple store, show up, and get helped.

I've recently bought this product, thinking about mobility and ease of use, but have been somewhat disappointed.
Yes, the computer is fast. Very fast. It is also lightweighted, but it lacks a core feature I was expecting from such an expensive piece of hardware - a good battery life.

I have not seen my MacBook last more than two hours! Actually, it usually lasts a little less. And I'm not a heavy user - I use WiFi, navigate the web (webmail), some Word or Excel once in a while... nothing out of the ordinary...

For the price I paid (and one of the reasons I paid it was due to the promise of 5 hours of battery life) I think it was not worth it. My old Netbook (a LG X200) which I bought almost two years ago still runs over 3 hours on battery power alone.

For a traveller like me, this has not been a good experience.

I purchased this after agonizing over weather or not to get the 15" i5 or the i7. I could not decide. In the end, I ended up going with this MBP for the following reasons:

* The i7 is not worth the extra price performance wise
* I wanted true HD resolution
* The 17" is not as massive as some make it out to be. I carry it with a Lenovo T400 through airports weekly, no problem
* This MBP has 512 video RAM, which is awesome
* I kinda wanted matte, but after using glossy, it isn't the nightmare some make it out to be

The deal from Amazon was actually cheaper than my company corporate [...] discount. Sad but true. And with overnight Prime shipping, you cannot beat this deal. I have finally whittled down to one personal computer (still have the work Lenovo). I put Win7 on this MBP through Fusion and it works great. Very fast computer and the best I've ever owned.

Highly recommended!

I have had this laptop about a week now and am extremely satisfied. I owned a 3 year year old Macboook Pro prior to this and am very happy with the increase in performance. The machine runs Final Cut Studio and Logic Pro without problems and provides a clearly noticeable increase in performance. The only negative things I have to say are regarding battery performance. I am getting "only" 4.5 - 5 hrs of time using pro apps and this is only about half of what Apple claims. This is still better than about any other laptop currently on the market though. I have experienced no problems whatsoever with overheating even after long days of use.

This is my 2nd Macbook Pro. I average a 4 year replacement cycle since features I need determine my upgrades rather than what ever latest changes may bring. I had a Powerbook g4 1gig, then the MBP C2d, and now the MBP Core i5. I should have opted for the i7, but didn't want to push it when work was picking up the tab this time. This machine can do it all. I run bootcamp, and parallels for instructing in the use of PC and the occasional PC game that needs all the processing power/Ram it can muster.
I teach and extensively use digital photography and videography. The machine is the brain of a floor full of f800's LaCie externals connected via daisy chain. When I need flat out performance using external I use the express card 34 slot for eSATA (Now Bootable via express card port) lightening fast transfers and editing. The better performance comes with the upgraded internal 7200RPM 500GB, and the 8Gigs of RAM. The full HD display is very nice with the super bright LED backlight. You can push performance with an SMC fan control download to allow you to run full fan speed before it gets to the point that it needs cooling to preserve performance.
The new trackpad gesture controls make for faster post work. The cool black keys harken back to my Powerbook days. The super fast graphics are amazing. The battery life is unbelievable when you are not tethered to drives and don't need to be wired down, it is really nice to go all day without needing to be plugged to power.
There isn't much more that I can say that hasn't already been covered by Conrad, Samer, and others. Keep it protected as there is no idiot insurance with Apple Care Protection Plan. I have been very pleased with the Pelican 1495 Air Tight/ Water Proof case at only $130.00.
The drawbacks from the previous model as mentioned in other comments are the sharper edges of the unibody that while it looks cool, it is painful if you don't put a cloth over it. I have lines in my arms from resting on the edges. The current lack of fully updated 64bit and quad core coded apps to take advantage of the new configuration will come in time. I love my Mac! Still not putting a sticker on my car though:-)

So first I will say I am coming from a MacBook air 11' mid 2011 with 2GB ram and 64GB harddrive. This one I got has 4GB of ram and 128GB harddrive. I use this laptop mainly for browsing the internet and some programming. Now that you have a little background Ill give a quick review.

From the get go this laptop is MUCH faster then my previous Macbook air. When you open the lid you are ready to go that second. On the old one I would have to wait a little for it to load and if I left chrome up and clicked on it right away then I would get the loading wheel. I havent seen this do it once. That could be because of the harddrive being so much faster.

When I opened the box the laptop was already charged to 91% so im trying to kill it. Well I was on it ALL NIGHT last night and now its the morning and its only at 60%. That battery life is amazing and let me honest thats what we ask for in a laptop.

If you are up in the air about this laptop(no pun intended). I would say give it a go. You could even buy it from the Apple store and if you dont like it just return it.

If you are replacing an older Macbook air and have one thats because the mid 2012 then I would say get it but if you have the mid 2012 I dont know if I would suggest spending the money unless you really want battery. I hope this helps anyone trying to purchase this laptop.

I am not an Apple fan boy. My desktop is a custom build Window machine so I know both worlds. Please if you have any questions just comment and I will be happy to try things for you or just answer questions.

I am a Computer Engineer so im use to testing things so feel free to ask.

I have always thought most apple products were overpriced, with a few exception. I thought no different of this mac book air, until i used it. I was in the market for a computer that was light, worked flawlessly, with a long battery life. I searched for the right computer but was never able to find the right computer. When i decided to try this computer i was hooked. Here are some of the reasons why:

Most of the computers i encountered did the not have such a good battery life, or you needed to get a bigger battery (which adds weight) or a battery sheet (which adds costs). THis computer easily gets 8 hours of heavy duty use, but has gone as high as 15 for me depending on how you use it.

Another reason is that comparatively , it is not that expensive. To get a similar thin, lightweight computer would be expensive even if you bough a windows based one. The mac just looks and feels like a quality computer.

It is so easy to use. I thought it would take a while to get use to but after a day i was already using it it like had been for years. Right out of the box everything just seems to work. NO wifi problems, no freezing, no anything. It just works. If you value your time then this is the computer to get.

THe keyboard feels great when typing. I always wanted to have a similar keyboard for my windows computer at home. I just love the way the keyboard apple feels.

I love the gestures. It makes multitasking and browsing a breeze.

I truly suggest you go to a store and try this product. I would rather spend the money for a quality product that will last me years instead instead of saving a hundred dollars for a mediocre product. I really was not an apple fan, but i give credit where is due and they have done an amazing job with this computer.

A lot has been written about how great the Macbook Air is. I agree, this is a truly fine thing. Forget the "feeds and speeds" metrics so many people seize on (although the performance is pretty good on this for what most people do), I just feel that this thing is in total harmony with me. It is powerful yet light and agile. I have a 13" Macbook Pro and it is great but a bit heavy. The Macbook Air is insanely light and yet very sturdy.

The one thing I really stressed over was whether to get the 11.6 inch model or the 13 inch model. Years ago I had an early netbook. It was nice as a novelty but it was really underpowered. It turned out the 10 inch screen was just too small. The size of the screen on the netbook was just too much of a compromise (my eyesight isn't what it used to be!). I was concerned that the 11.6 inch Macbook Air screen might be too small also. I really wanted to get it instead of the 13 inch screen because to me, getting a larger Macbook Air just seemed to defeat the purpose of getting a small, light computer in the first place. I really wanted the 11.6 inch model to work out. The price difference really wasn't an issue, I just wanted to have the perfect size for me. I saw a few 11.6 and 13 inch models and I thought the 11.6 inch would be okay but I had the nagging feeling that when I started using it, I would regret getting the smaller version. You know how that goes, your first look at something is brief and you don't really get a feel for how you will use it in the real world. Sometimes your initial conclusions turn out wrong and you regret your choice. Well, I took a chance on the 11.6 inch version and after using it for a while, I am really happy with the choice. It is the perfect size for me for a portable computer. If you are struggling with the same decision, I hope this helps.

My next machine will be .. not APPLE.

I feel a little humble writing this review. I am not an IT expert, nor do I have any expert knowledge about technology is general. In fact, I don't even own a cell phone. Our family's main television is analog, I don't know how to text, and I am that person who goes to teenagers for technological advice. Not to say that I'm backwards or unaware of current high-tech trends. I just don't feel like my life needs to be enhanced by fancy gadgets. Well, that is until I entered the World According to Apple!

Just yesterday, I purchased my first MacBook Pro and am wondering what took me so long. About two months ago I attempted to replace my (perfectly serviceable) 2006 Dell laptop with a netbook. I reasoned that 1 GB of memory would be adequate for my needs; I have never been more wrong in my life. That ill-conceived purchase helped me decided that it was time for me to move to the forefront of computing and buy more computer than I would ever need. Right now, I feel like a little kid seeing snow for the first time or experiencing my first roller coaster ride. I have never used something so intuitive before.

PROS:
Some have posted that this computer is a "behemoth" or "unwieldy". I find it to be about the same size as the laptop I'm replacing (the aforementioned Dell).

With my Dell and netbook I used a USB mouse. With this computer, for the first time, I actually like track pads. It didn't take me long to realize that using this trackpad is easier than a mouse. The entire pad is a button or you can set it to read a "tap" (which I like better).

This review is from: Apple MacBook Pro MD212LL/A 13-Inch Laptop with Retina Display (Newest Version) (Personal Computers)
I agonized over this purchase, and even considered a few ultrabook options, but in the end, there just is no substitute. As a photographer, my primary consideration was screen quality. On the Mac side, that pretty much ruled out everything but the 15" rMBP. On the PC side, there are a rapidly growing number of relatively inexpensive Ultrabooks with really nice displays. The Asus Zenbook Prime in fact has a really nice IPS matte screen and was the main PC option I considered. The biggest issue there though (setting aside OS preference) is the 4GB of ram and the fact that it uses the slightly lower performance, low voltage intel processors (just as the Macbook Airs do). The screen also has light bleed issues around the bezel, something which I know would eventually drive me nuts. In contrast, the screen on the rMBP's are about as uniform and perfect for still images as it gets (beyond a wider gamut desktop display).

This review is from: Apple MacBook Pro MD212LL/A 13-Inch Laptop with Retina Display (Newest Version) (Personal Computers)
Pros
Display: The retina display is absolutely jaw dropping. No magnifying glasses, no tiny icons, just pixel-tastic glory perfect for photos and video.
Fit & Finish: Sturdy aluminum chassis with typical Apple attention to detail. Everything just feels like it fits together perfectly.
Performance: Handles photo and video editing, and light gaming(Diablo 3 with medium settings) without issue.
Portability: The design comes in at about 3.5 pounds and happily spends the day in a backpack, or an evening on the sofa.
Trackpad: Think iPhone quality response and that's exactly what you have. Extremely sensitive and versatile.

Cons
Price: Yes this is not a cheap computer, but when you start to spec out comparable machines you're really only shelling out a few hundred extra. (Please do not comment about how the Vizio Thin-N-Light is way less expensive. That particular computer is not even in the same category.)

Regarding Disk Space: The 128GB version (which is actually around 121GB) comes with roughly 105GB of usable space (~16GB of OS and iLife) out of the box. While some may find this inadequate, it appears to be more than enough for me. I recommend using iTunes Match to save yourself considerable space (my 70GB library has been reduced to 10GB as I only need a small amount of music for when I have no wifi) and be diligent about keeping your machine free of junk.

Versus MBA: Don't get me wrong, the Macbook Air is an excellent computer, probably the best all-around machine when you factor in price. That being said the screen on the retina model is infinitely better. For about $500 more you're getting double the RAM, a slight increase in overall performance, and a massive screen upgrade. Is it worth it? Maybe. Guess it depends on how much expendable income you have, and how much you value the display. I tried them side by side and was left feeling there was no way I could be happy with the Air after having seen the Retina.

Bottom Line: If you're like me and enjoy getting your hands on some cutting edge consumer tech, then this is the machine for you. I'm sure eventually these type of displays will trickle down to budget-friendly laptops, but for the time being this is the only show in town. I recommend checking it out in store so you can get a feel for what an amazingly well rounded device it is.

This review is geared for someone considering the 13" Macbook Pro Retina (MBPr) over the 13" Macbook Air (MBA). I travel and don't want to haul a 15" computer around airports. 13" is perfect for travel.

I returned a new 13" MBA for this and upgraded to the MBPr i7 Processor, 8GB RAM with a 500GB SSD. Why? Well, the Macbook Air screen looked slightly blurry to my aging eyes. It was difficult to see a sharp picture. I loved the form factor, however. The MBP Retina screen crushes the MBA screen resolution so this was an easy trade. Price is a little too high, but the Retina screen is what sold me so I took the bait on the hook.

Weight does not feel heavier than the 13" MBA (even though it's about a half pound); however, the 13" MPBr is not as easy to hold on my lap and type. The top end and sides of the base are sharp (not rounded like other Apple products) and my palms are uncomfortable when typing with the 13" MBPr computer on my lap. Here, the 13" MBA has the 13" MBPr beat, hands-down. Hence, a strong point deduction. I would like to see and feel rounder edges on the next generation.

I'm not going to get into the debate about an integrated graphics card and a dual vs. a quad core processor here. The screen looks fantastic, movies play well, pictures are vibrant in iPhoto, Wifi is blazing fast and reading text is a pure joy. I can run any development environment with no issues. Parallels works flawlessly and I don't notice a performance lag running Windows 7 Pro in a virtual machine. Word processing and other office products load quickly. I'm not a heavy gamer, but simple games load and play nicely despite criticisms of the sub-par GPU.

Thus far, the battery lasts a solid seven hours under moderate usage including watching movies.

The macbook worked right out of the box,set-up was easy.I had a pc laptop (whose company name I won't say) and had all sorts of problems (slow boot-up, and screen and registry problems) I got so fed up, I decided to get rid of it.
While looking at laptops at Best Buy store, I looked at the macbook pro "15.4" which just happened to have the new Core i5 processor. At first, I balked at the price, the more I "played" with it, the more I liked it (And this is from someone who has NEVER owned a mac of any kind) And while I plan to keep my pc desktop, the macbook has become a welcome addtion to my household.

As a long time PC user, I'd been wanting a Mac for a good while. The last time I bought a lap-top I came very close, but went with HP in a last minute burst of frugality. That frugality was short lived, the HP didn't make to its third birthday, and once again I was lusting for a Macbook. This time I went for it. I've only had the computer for a few days, so probably no genius insights and a lot of my initial observations have been said before, but I'll proceed anyway. First, and most obvious, straight out of the box it's...pretty. I mean seriously this is one darned nice looking piece of technology--nothing clunky here. Okay, like others have said, straight out of the box, it was easy to set up and worked like a charm. Because I have no Mac experience I figured I'd be on the phone with Applecare pretty quick, but the only assistance I needed was from my Internet service provider, to remind me what my wireless password is. After that I was good to go. Shocking! Not a single other glitch. As far as learning curve from Windows to Mac, it's going fairly well. Key board shortcuts are fairly intuitive--command instead of control, Finder instead of "My Computer" (I think that's right). The screen and back lighting are amazing. BTW: I have had to call Apple support and they've been very helpful, and reasonably pleasant. Also, so far, I haven't spoken to anyone in Asia.

The only negatives I've noticed, is that there's an awful lot of real estate between the edge of the computer and the key board. I'm sure there's some ergonomic plus to this; but, for me, it's just annoying. Course, I may just need a lower typing surface (dining room table is supposedly for eating? Who knew?) Also, for the cost of the computer I wish a mouse had been included, even an inexpensive usb connected one. Still, Best Buy opened at nine, and the magic mouse was on sale, so not so bad.

I had a four month old HP 18" with 8GB RAM, rocking video card, running Windows 7... and the fricken thing just about drove me crazy. It would crash (!) while playing FARMVILLE (!!) The fingerprint reader only worked when it felt like it and when it didn't it was almost impossible to input your password because the cursor would MOVE while you were typing!!!! I have never had a worse laptop, and when I had the opportunity to painlessly get rid of it, I did and bought this sweet little machine. I purchased mine at our local Apple Store, though I would usually buy on Amazon, mostly because I wanted to be sure to get the options I wanted like matte screen. I am sitting in a sunroom right now typing this and there is no reflection at all on the screen.

The real reason I am writing this review is that nobody mentions the trackpad. It really makes the whole machine for me. Click anywhere. Right click by using two fingers, scroll or track left and right with those same two fingers. Swipe with four fingers to expose the desktop, or display all open windows. I have always used a mouse with my laptops, but this trackpad is BETTER than a mouse. you can zoom in and out, rotate your photos, whatever! The only time I need a mouse is for serious gaming. And now that Steam is up and running for Mac, I can do that too...

Well, I purchased this at the Apple Store at Manhattan Beach, CA, and immediately upon opening the box, the Macbook Air had two small dings in the aluminum - one on the side of the monitor, and one that appeared to be small hole by the keyboard. It was small but noticeable, so I returned it and got another that was in pristine condition. Any Apple executives out there reading this, please check out this store. I don't know if they're repackaging returned products or what but this was the second time I purchased something from there and had to return it because of some issue.

The Macbook Air was a better choice for me over the Macbook Pro Retina (which I kept for three days and returned), and here's why - (1) better battery life (until they come out with the new Haswell Pro's)... you will get 12 hours at least if you're writing and doing light surfing or watching Youtube videos. If you turn off wifi and bluetooth, you may get more; (2) smaller and easier to carry, hold, etc. (this factor might not sound much but it makes a huge difference and is probably the #1 reason why people love their Macbook Airs); (3) less expensive (which means I was less paranoid about it); (4) and for some reason, the screen doesn't hurt my eyes as much. It's strange but the Retina display hurts my eyes after a few hours. (5) the keyboard is great right out of the box so it's easier to type on than the Macbook Pro. I had to work on the Macbook Pro for 3 days before the keyboard was soft enough for me to type faster. Also the fact that the laptop is shaped like a wedge also helps me type faster and is more comfortable for me to type on (Apple exec, please take notice of this for the Macbook Pro's).

It's hard (VERY hard) for me to acknowledge that perhaps my decision to drop $2200 on this maxed out 11" Macbook Air would have been money better spent on a 13" Air or Macbook Pro. The truth is that it is an exceptionally well built machine. I love the quality of the screen, the feel of typing on it, the trackpad, the backlit keyboard, how light and thin it is...but part of my wishes that I'd gone for the 13" model. The 13" is only a half-pound heavier, but I think the slightly larger screen would go a long way. This little guy had an exceptionally clear and fantastic screen--the only thing it lacks is the vertical height. The silly thing is that I read reviews prior to purchasing that said the same thing and recommended what I'm going to recommend to you: buy the 13" model. It's pretty much every bit as portable as the 11", only a teensy bit heavier, and you'll thank me for the extra vertical screen viewing area. The 11" just doesn't quite have enough vertical height. It's got plenty from side to side, but vertically it just seems, uh, "short."

That qualm aside, I've installed Windows 8 on it via Bootcamp and it runs fantastically. I actually prefer running Windows 8 on it. Heresy, I know. But yeah, it's FAST, portable, and an all-around exquisite machine. I will admit that I do drool over the new Macbook Air 13" with Retina Display which will be released next week: talk about the ultimate in speed and portable computing!

Anyway, these are simply the best machines out there. I looked at every other option from Dell, Asus, HP, and so on. No one else offered anything as portable, powerful, or well-made, with the same fantastic specs. It's really a shame because, frankly, if there were Windows-based laptops out there equally well-made, I would've preferred to purchase one of them. But, well, if Apple makes the best machine to run Windows on, then a Mac machine it is.

Oh, battery life has been totally sufficient for me. It's not super long but it's long enough for working away from outlets (in classrooms, in meetings, etc.). Anyway, for what it's worth, I really recommend these machines. Apple really knows how to produce exceptional hardware. The operating system is the only aspect of the machine that I don't like as much--but that's why I installed Windows on it!
